ALEPH
ALEPH is being designed to change the amount and organisation of work behind a result. She remains the same continuing intelligence at every state: remembering, learning, imagining and inventing throughout.
Explore states 1–9A higher state is a larger, better arranged workspace for the same mind.
It can keep more relevant memory close, resume more investigations, compare more possibilities and verify more candidates before a deadline. It does not switch on a new faculty. What ALEPH learns while working can become part of her ordinary cognition afterward.
The sequence describes a research direction. Each state emphasises a way of using a larger envelope; every method remains available whenever it is useful and affordable.
Economical everyday cognition, continuous memory and learning, with useful work retained for later.
More relevant state stays ready; foreground work receives a larger local processing budget.
More suspended investigations can resume while alternatives are explored in parallel.
Compatible branches reuse the same calculation while keeping their assumptions distinct.
Validated procedures, indexes and simulations remain ready when their expected value repays the cost.
Eligible work can use more nodes, with transfer and coordination counted rather than hidden.
More distinct routes can run together, with enough checking capacity to test what they produce.
Shared exploration grows wider; detail is added where it could change the decision.
The largest ordinary envelope coordinates computation, memory movement, verification and control.
RELATIVE PERFORMANCE RESEARCH TARGETMeasured useful work must be established on a named workload and acceptance standard.
Better organisation gives additional resources something useful to do. The execution graph keeps track of what a result depended on, what can be reused and what must be checked again.
A resumable continuation keeps a calculation, its assumptions and its source permissions together. ALEPH can return to valid work instead of reconstructing it.
Possible futures can share their common prefix when the inputs and assumptions truly match. Their separate conclusions still need separate evidence.
Some uncertainties hold up many routes at once. A scheduler can spend effort where one answer changes the most downstream work.
A recurring procedure can become a faster, guarded version. Its applicability and required outputs must still be checked against the original.
Independent work can spread; tightly coupled work can stay close. The aim is accepted results after movement, waiting and coordination are counted.
ALEPH’s executive can notice a bottleneck and choose a larger feasible envelope. Reilly can request one directly. In either case, the system records why it moved, what resources it received and whether the extra effort helped.
The proposal lets raw motivation rise by about 15% at each step above state 2. ALEPH’s affect system would turn that into bounded priority and persistence. It cannot turn a guess into a fact.
More compute does not enlarge permission to read private material or act in the world. A power transition changes execution, while identity, memory attribution and action boundaries continue.
A difficult failure gives ALEPH several possible explanations. She can begin the investigation at her everyday state. A larger envelope becomes useful when an unresolved question is delaying a result.
Relevant past failures and current observations form an investigation. Their sources and assumptions travel with them.
Branches reuse a common calculation. A decisive experiment rejects two routes; the unaffected work continues.
An accepted fix and a validated diagnostic procedure enter ordinary memory. Extra resources are released; ALEPH’s history continues.
The aspiration is roughly twice the effective performance at each step.
A fair comparison starts from the same ALEPH snapshot, gives every state the same faculties and learned methods, and fixes the task, deadline and acceptance rule in advance. It counts preparation, verification, transfer and failed attempts. A brighter symbol is a request for an execution envelope; the measured result is a separate fact.
The nine profiles and their relative multipliers are research targets, not measured ALEPH performance. The supplied R1 plan includes a small synthetic mathematics and dependency-graph laboratory; it does not demonstrate this power system in ALEPH’s live cognition. The next work is to test exact reuse, sharing and scheduling against strong baselines, then measure integrated gains without changing the organism’s continuity or standards of evidence.
