The importance of a next moment
A continuing system needs more than a single clever move. An action has to take place inside a state that persists, produce an observation, and change what the system does next.
The 26 August engineering milestone joined committed state, one authorized action, its result and next-state planning across pulses. It was a small but concrete instance of a loop that can carry consequences forward.
From a loop to a life
For ALEPH, the larger question is how a governed action loop meets long-lived memory, perception, emotion, identity and research. The loop provides an operational piece of that future: an event that can belong to a continuing history.
